Kids & Pros Co-Founder Buddy Curry, in conjunction with the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation, offers expertise and experience in the Parent Information Sessions (PIS). Kids & Pros host the PIS in conjunction with the coaches clinics and youth camps, as a way to teach parents about equipment fitting, concussion awareness and avoidance, and the proper tackling techniques designed to increase safety and limit helmet-to-helmet contact, lessening the chance for injury. Through these sessions, parents are gaining the same knowledge, as their children’s coaches and their own kids, about how to play safer, smarter football.
During the Parent Information Session, Kids & Pros gives actual demonstrations on proper equipment fitting and tacking techniques. A representative from Riddell Sports is on hand at a majority of the Parent Information Sessions to show parents the proper way to ensure the football helmet and shoulder pads fit snug on their child, and are in compliance with industry standards. Kids & Pros Staff and Coaches also demonstrates the proper way to tackle using the HEADS UP FOOTBALL SM technique. A representative from the Taylor Hooton Foundation attends many Parent Information Sessions to educate parents on the dangers of Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs, anabolic steroids and dietary supplements. All Parent Information Sessions include a Q & A for parents at the end of each session.
The PIS is held at every Kids & Pros camp or clinic, during the first day and first hour of the camp or clinic.
